Hello everyone,
I apologise for the lack of posts lately. It’s that end of year feeling I guess! I have been busy lately, between subbing, my holiday and my new weekend job in a bakery. Between everything I am a tired múinteoir. I am also very excited because… I have an interview next week! It’s my first ever interview, and it’s an honour to even be called to interview at this early stage in my career, so even if I don’t get the job I’ll still be proud : )
I have been applying for jobs all over the country and I am sick to the teeth of the ‘standard application form’! I hope to write a post when I get time, about the standard application form and tips on how to complete both the SAF and a cover letter. It’s all quite daunting at first. Interview preparation wise I am  writing out answers to possible questions and surfing Education Posts. Any interview tips would be greatly, hugely and immensely appreciated!

Subbing wise, June is a most enjoyable month. I accompanied a school on their school tour on Wednesday. We traveled all the way to Dublin to see Leinster House, the National History Museum , the Viking Splash Tour and Dublin Zoo. What an amazing school tour! June is a fun month, what with school tours, sports day, grandparents days and so on. It can also be a little hard for subs because children are in no form for work! I have finished up with most of my home tuition kids too because they have just had enough school work at this stage. I guess teachers aren’t the only ones who are burnt out by the end of the year.

Congratulations to those of you who finished teaching practice, it’s a huge achievement. Now enjoy your summer, and don’t worry about the Irish exam, it’s a piece of cáca!

I’ll write soon regarding SAF tips.
Valerie
