I love writing these look back at the year posts, mainly for me to look back on in years to come. My blog is really like a record of my teaching career, I hope to look back on it when I have retired and it will remind me of all the children I taught and the projects I worked on! This blog started when I was still in teacher training college so it has been with me from day one! I know the done thing nowadays is to have a ‘niche’ like infant teaching, or ASD class teaching, etc but my blog isn’t like that, the content depends on what class I have, what I am doing at a particular time in my life etc.

This year was a busy one!

In January we got covid and lived to tell the tale!

In February I had Frankie, it is hard to believe he will soon be one!

In March I released my first story book ‘Connected’ and an updated version of my Interview Guidebook.

In April my new Primary Planner with CJ Fallon came out. April also saw me finish my diploma in Special and Additional Needs.

In May I released my first department approved summer course with Anokha Learning- ‘Teaching Strategies to Promote Wellbeing in Children with Autism’ . Being an e-tutor on this kept me very busy throughout the summer.

2021 was also the year I started doing live webinars, and this is something I plan to continue with as I really enjoy it!

In August I decided to take a last minute career break. I also did a lot of work with Engineering Ireland in August, creating resources and videos for teachers to use whilst taking part in the Young Engineers Programme.

By the end of September I really missed school after being off for ages between lockdowns and maternity leaves so I started subbing again and got a long term subbing offer in a local school as an SET. This was a HUGE change for me after being in the same school for seven years, but a good change!

October/November and December were spent adjusting to my new teaching role in a new school, and running webinars.

I have a lot planned for 2022. The main thing I want to do is finish off my Masters, I ended up deferring it last term when I went back to school as I just didn’t have time to work on it. I will be starting it now again in January.

I have been working on making changes suggested by teachers who bought my planner, and that will be updated and released in the Spring. My summer course will be available again this summer. I have a few exciting things coming up with my blog too.

I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful, happy and safe 2022. Teaching through a pandemic is hard, we all know that. Reading ill informed articles from second rate media outlets is harder again, but we can just do our best, that is all we can do.
