The Scholastic Book Fair came to our school last month. We have the book fair every year and I always enjoy it! I love seeing the hallway full of bright and colourful posters and books. The children love it too.
The Scholastic Book Fair really encourages reading and I think this is so so important in this age of iPads and technology. I always notice that even children who wouldn’t love reading are drawn in by the excitement of it all and end up getting a book and enjoying it.! I like how the books are there and the children can examine them and make their choice then, rather than choosing from a catalogue and not seeing the book. Our school will receive 60% back in free books for our library for running the book fair. A great way on stocking up on class novels and keeping the library up to date. They also offer teacher resource material if your libraries are already in good shape
Our school run it very well, with fifth and sixth class students getting to be in charge of the stationery shop! Scholastic also send the most gorgeous selection of pencils, rubbers, sharpeners etc which are cheap and cheerful. The classes get to take turns going to the fair and choosing their book is a big deal! The secretary then deals with the ordering and the money side of things for us. It’s just a really nice and positive way to promote reading in schools. I would recommend booking one for sure!
